Tokyo
Tokyo was wonderful.
Just being back on the platform waiting for the Yamanote train, hearing the Japanese announcements of arriving trains and seeing the locals (OLs, businessmen etc) going about their daily life. Gosh I had no idea how much I'd missed the place, the culture, the real food.
Highlights of my trip were the Lockup izakaya, windowshopping at Samantha Thavasa, our surreal stay at Taiseikan in Hakone (incredible kaiseki dinner where I discovered the joys of kin me sashimi and strawberries dipped in kinako powder), onsen and visiting our stylist You at Zest salon in Harajuku. And an excellent French meal I had at a tiny restaurant in Hatsudai, a charming residential neighborhood just minutes to the west of Shinjuku.
やはり、日本ですね。どこでもいったけど、やはり日本がそれです。
An aside: saw the trailers for "Departures" and "The Shinjuku Incident" yesterday - both look very promising and I can't wait to watch them!
