Where and when?
I guess I'm just being morbid, but when I lose contact with some people after a while, I start wondering if something happened to them. Most times, everyone is just too busy but in the case of M, I received a sudden email from him which related about how he was nearly blinded by a metal rod. Wow. The saddest thing is that if someone really does leave, and you don't know about it, you might just dismiss them as people who suck at keeping in touch, until one day an acquaintance informs you of the truth. Then again, I don't do a great job of keeping in contact with people anyway. The process of living sometimes takes more energy and time than it is worth, I suspect.
