wandering around
Ah, Sunday at last!
Yesterday was great; explored Meguro's Parasite Museum (which wasn't as bile-inducing as promoted). It's in a non-descript building, and filled with jars and jars of critters. Stuff that you think shouldn't exist, and stuff that grows and survives and thrives on all sorts of carriers, including humans.
1) Eat only super-super-fresh sashimi, if you eat sashimi at all. No rare/medium meat, only well-done.
2) Wash your hands as often as you can, and do not walk barefooted anywhere.
3) Beware of cats, dogs and all cute creatures.
We also went to Jiyugaoka. A very nice neighborhood, with an air quite different from the usual Tokyo spots. Lotsa interior, 'country-living' shops. Very yuppified air, and mostly couples and young families. Wanted to have dinner at a Korean place called Kara Kara but didn't have reservations -sniff- so we went in search of another place. And the other restaurant turned out to be great!
The restaurant sign for Bangkok Palace looked totally tacky from the outside, but it was beautiful, clean and tastefully decorated inside. J had green curry and I had the 'pad khee miao', both of which were excellent. I was doing fine until I chomped on an innocuous looking red chilli and started tearing so badly that J was concerned!! lol He admitted that his green curry was very spicy too, and we were both dabbing our eyes. The waiter brought us cold water, and of course couldn't resist asking j if the food was "spicy"? Hellooo, duh dude! What was hilarious was the waiter's use of Japanese to me, English to J (cos he's white) and the fact that our Japanese was probably better than his Japanese.
J is right. 。
